Congregation Beth Hamidrash became organized as a functioning body in the late 1960’s. Beth Hamidrash is a traditional Sephardic congregation which follows the Iraqi service and customs common to our founding members. Today the congregation is very diverse, encompassing Jews from not only Sephardic but also Ashkenazic backgrounds. Congregants hail from such far-flung communities as Iraq, Morocco, Algeria, Libya, Egypt, Syria, Lebanon, Yemen, Israel, India, France, Shanghai (China), Kobe (Japan), the U.K., South Africa, Zimbabwe, Russia, and many other parts of Canada and the world. These diverse origins make the synagogue a dynamic, exciting, and unique place for religious, social, culinary, and educational experiences.

Congregation Beth Hamidrash has a policy that
no one is turned away due to financial difficulties. Everyone is welcome to come to pray
and participate in our activities.

Pray For Peace

"NOT BY MIGHT, NOR BY POWER, BUT BY MY SPIRIT, SAYS THE LORD OF HOSTS"

Zechariah Ch. IV, v-6, as read on Channukah

In times of trouble, Zechariah's message is the hope that we cling to. For G-d, all is possible; He determines the outcome before it commences. We really need His help, urgently, with the crises facing our people in Israel. To relate to this in more personal terms; how would you feel if you know your child needs your help, but refuses to ask for it? Pretty hurt, not so? And so it is with G-d too. He's waiting to help our people, & wants us to ask for His help. One of the most powerful tools we have are Psalms, and these can be said without limitation.

Please recite the following Psalms each day: it'll take less than 5 minutes a day, & will probably be the catalyst for His help, with our people! Click on each Psalm to bring up its text, in both Hebrew & English!

Psalm 20
Psalm 91
Psalm 121
Psalm 123
Psalm 124

Our people are living in the most extreme of dangerous situations in Israel & elsewhere too. This is a situation where every person's prayer counts.

If every Jew worldwide, prayed to Him with great emotion, united in our plea for His help - imagine how He would respond! Until there's lasting peace for Israel, and for all Jews worldwide, please say the above Psalms each day, & any others you like, too.

With grateful thanks!
